13, 2004 - FAPO says Tories will have a "fight
on their hands" if proposed amendments to the Human Rights Act
weaken the case of poor people who are discriminated against by the Economic
Unit Policy. FAPO cries FOUL! June
29, 2004 : We
have just been advised that the New Brunswick government will pass the
amendment to the New Brunswick Human Rights Act to include "social
condition" as a protected ground in the Act. It is our understanding
that the proposed amendment, Bill 24, will go to Committee of Whole tomorrow,
June 30, 2004, and then it is a mere formality to pass Third Reading.
Since the House will be closing for the summer session as early as tomorrow,
this is unexpected GOOD NEWS for income assistance recipients in New Brunswick!
BRAVO and Congratulations to all of those who participated in the move
to make this change in the Human Rights Act become reality! April
21, 2004 - Public Forum on Proposed Changes to the Human Rights Act.
